Pit Putty Orange Vanilla Organic Deodorant is for anyone that wants to smell like an orange creamsicle! It's safe for kids (barring any personal allergies), adults, men, women, even pregnant and breastfeeding women. The orange vanilla scent is so delightful we even made a matching body butter. The orange is a fresh and simple citrus and vanilla gives it a beautiful creamy sweetness. But not an overpowering artificial vanilla, a true vanilla bean scent with even a hint of floral to it. It just smells good enough to eat. All of our Pit Putty Sticks, even those with baking soda, are gentle on even sensitive skin. 

For heavier sweaters

Apply Orange Vanilla Pit Putty Organic Deodorant any time you feel wetness and it'll dry you right back up on contact! The formula is mostly powder, so you can safely reapply any time and any *where*. It works great on feet, under breasts, in folds of skin, in the groin area. It works as a body powder, too!  

No natural substance will stop you from sweating, as it's a natural process of the body. The next best thing is to use a powder-based deodorant like this Pit Putty Stick *absorb* wetness. It may be more inconvenient, but it’s the best way to keep moisture-related issues under control without having to resort to an antiperspirant.

For sensitive skin

Use Orange Vanilla Pit Putty Organic Deodorant alone, or paired with Orange Vanilla Pit Buddy Sensitive Cream. The zinc oxide in the cream will help protect against skin-to-skin friction, while the extra powder will help draw moisture out of your skin. Pit Putty is a great option to choose if you're experiencing wetness-related irritation like intertrigo or heat rash. Most underarm rashes are actually caused by wetness, so using a product that's mostly powder (like Pit Putty!) is the best thing you can do for your skin. 

It's just four simple ingredients we mix in a big old Hobart mixer we've affectionally named "Bart." We take organic arrowroot powder and mix it with organic extra virgin coconut oil (it smells so good), a less-than 5% concentration of baking soda, a touch of organic orange essential oil and a splash of vanilla extract. (Ok, we weigh all of our ingredients and use standardized formulas every time.) Blend it together until it's fully mixed and the right consistency. Then we actually stuff the product down in to its tube by hand (wearing gloves always) and then smooth the top on a tempered glass surface. It can't be poured because the mix is so powdery and it can't be made with big machinery. 

It truly is a putty-like consistency, that's why we named it Pit Putty! When the batch is done, a member of the "bee" team from the labeling department comes and gets it. They clean the tubes, apply the labels, and add a batch sticker to each tube. Once the batch is ready, we put it in our inventory system and it goes in our warehouse and we ship it to you! We do all of this in our own facility. We don't outsource production or shipping to third-party labs or warehouses. We insist on doing it all.

Body odor is actually caused by bacteria. We all have a unique microbiome of bacteria on our skin (aka "body chemistry.") And it can change over time based on a number of factors (environment, hormones, genetics, stress). When we're born, we have eccrine sweat glands all over our body. Eccrine sweat glands release basically salt water. When we hit puberty, our apocrine glands develop in our underarms and groin. Apocrine glands release more than just salt water. This sweat contains fatty acids, amino acids, hormones and their metabolites, metabolism byproduct -- it's a stew of compounds on which bacteria can feed.  Different strains of bacteria create different types of body odor that can be onion-ey, sour, cheese-ey, and more. So when we say "body chemistry" that's what we mean. The unique compounds in our sweat and the blend of bacteria on our skin. 

We formulated Pit Putty holistically to stop odor at the source. First, by absorbing perspiration (bacteria needs moisture to grow) and second by choosing essential oils and scent extracts that stave off bacterial growth. Orange essential oil is known for having antibacterial properties and even vanilla does too! The fact that they smell great is a happy coincidence! Finally, a small amount of baking soda (less than 5%) alkalizes the underarm slightly to make it inhospitable to bacterial growth as well. 

Most companies just load up their formulas with artificial preservatives, too much baking soda, and other harsh ingredients so each of their variations work the same for everyone. That's what you've gotta do to be carried in the big box stores. But we're not. We're different. We formulate holistically, understanding that each person is unique.
