As we near our annual Big Sale, I wanted to give some product updates. While things have improved since 2020, the industry is still struggling with supply chain hiccups.
I think we have 90% of our products well-stocked for the season, but some items will be in low or out for our Big Sale.
Our supplier has been out of stock of the organic sweet almond oil since early September so we were unable to make a few items:
Sugar & Spice Body Butter will be out of stock due to this supply disruption. We were unable to make any because of the out of stock oil.
Coconut Lime Lotion Stick is the only lotion stick that has a little sweet almond oil, so we were unable to make any in time for the sale.
Why not just use a different supplier?
With organic certification, every ingredient we use has to be part of our organic system plan. We retain invoices, product spec sheets, and organic certificates on file for every ingredient and supplier. Adding or switching suppliers for an ingredient in an organic product is not a quick pivot. We have to submit a request for additional supplier and wait for approval before we can use anything; this often takes several months to complete.
Why not just use a different oil?
Again, with organic certification, all of our formulas are approved by our certifier and we have to adhere to those formulas for every batch. To make a change in formula would require approval from our certifier and also redesigning and printing new labels. It takes several months to get a new formula and label submitted and approved.
There was a delay in getting more decyl glucoside that hindered our ability to get foaming hand soap well-stocked before the sale. As we process orders from our Sale, production team members will be working to make more foaming hand soaps hopefully in time for our Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sale Nov. 24.
FlaxPro Flax Seeds have been discontinued indefinitely -- the company is not making them currently. I have not heard back if or when they will be available again.
Peppermint Toothpaste will probably sell out fast. Unfortunately the batches that were made are not setting up properly so we were not able to reach inventory goals in time.
Should I just wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday and order everything I need then?
I wouldn't recommend waiting, as other items will be sold at at that point.
