Description: Our shampoo is different because it contains no synthetic detergents; just gentle natural soap. Our great-grandmothers used simple soaps like these before the advent of synthetic shampoos. They had hair that was clean, shiny and healthy--without all the nasty chemicals. Your order comes with one 8 oz bottle of Peppermint & Tea Tree Shampoo, one 16 oz rinsing bottle (unless otherwise indicated), full instructions and information.

Where's the conditioner? Our products are a little bit different to use; it may take some getting used to. Instead of using a detergent shampoo (that strips your hair) and conditioner (that covers up the damage the shampoo did) we use a natural soap to clean and vinegar to balance hair's pH. The cleansing is so gentle you don't need conditioner, and the vinegar makes your hair exceptionally strong. Conventional shampoos and conditioners contain synthetic proteins and plasticizers that coat the hair. They have to do this to cover up the damage that the harsh detergents in the shampoo do to your hair. Our shampoo doesn't strip the hair of its oils, only removes the excess. You'll actually go through a hair "detox" period, where the synthetic proteins will be removed and you'll be able to feel your hair for the first time without these synthetic coatings. It will become naturally soft and smooth, and, as new hair grows in, it won't suffer the damage of the conventional shampoos. Over time, your hair's appearance will grow shinier and be stronger.

The Organic Peppermint & Tea Tree Shampoo contains sweet almond oil, macadamia nut oil, and jojoba oil for added conditioning. Jojoba oil is very similar in structure to our hairs' own natural oils, so it's a great conditioning agent. Sweet almond oil has long been used on hair and skin, and helps to strengthen skin and clarify scalp. And we've added sweet-smelling macadamia nut oil for added conditioning and softness. Peppermint and spearmint essential oils stimulate scalp and tea tree essential oil has been used historically to help itchy, dry, and oily scalp, fighting dandruff-causing fungus and promoting the healthy balance of scalp. We recommend this shampoo for normal to dry hair, even though, technically, there is no such thing as dry hair. Want to know why? Check out the B&B blog article here:http://bubbleandbee.blogspot.com/2009/09/hair-care-myths-exposed.html.

Directions: Place a quarter-sized dollop of shampoo into your palm and lather into hair. If you have thick or long hair, you may want to make a horizontal part on the back of your head and apply an extra dollop of shampoo to ensure you clean your entire scalp. Lather up and rinse as usual.

Vinegar rinse instructions: Fill the provided rinse bottle to the line with vinegar (white or apple cider vinegar work great), and fill to the top with water. Pour entire contents of the bottle onto your hair. Repeat the rinse until you can run your fingers through all your hair. (A detailed information sheet will be included with your order.)

Note: This shampoo is not for everyone. It is soap-based, not detergent based, so it has the potential to form soap scum. There are many factors that come in to play with soap scum formation, including water hardness, type of hardness, and texture of hair. If your hair comes out feeling greasy with this shampoo after the detox period, it's because you're experiencing soap scum. You can work around it by mixing in baking soda with the shampoo. As much as we want to sell you shampoo, we think you should know this ahead of time, as this product is non-returnable once opened. If it doesn't work out for you as a shampoo, however, it can be used as a body or hand soap.

    waiting for results

Posted by Azu on 13th May 2015

I have a month using it but no results yet, as my hair feel sticky. Reply: Azu--thanks for posting! If your hair is still sticky after a month, you probably have some hard water residue going on. There is a workaround--email us at info@bubbleandbee.com and we'll be happy to help! Or you can visit our shampoo help page: http://bubbleandbee.com/shampoo-help-page/

    Use daily

Posted by Tammy on 27th Feb 2016

The peppermint tea tree scent is so refreshing! I have naturally straight long hair and the shampoo and vinegar rinse worked great the first time I use it; I didn't go through a detox phase. I've been using it everyday for a week now. It keeps my hair silky, untangled, and keeps good volume (this is important because my hair is so straight and flat!) throughout the day. I skipped the shampoo one day because it seems a little dry and clean but then after the water rinse in the shower, it became oily so I would use the shampoo everyday unlike skipping days with other shampoos I had. I would totally recommend it to anyone with similar hair type. There are no harsh chemicals and it leaves your hair feeling so healthy! (And probably is healthier too!) and the vinegar smell is gone after a good water rinse. I use the trader Joe's organic apple cider vinegar and it works really well. Even with my really long hair, one bottle of rinse was enough.

After 1 wash blah after 3 washes good

Posted by Geo on 6th Jan 2016

The first time I used this product I allowed my hair to air-dry and it looked and felt oily. Second wash basically the same. I then re-read the instructions/description that came with the shampoo and decided to give it a couple weeks as the description mentions hair going through a bit of a phase to "detox". Third wash, my hair was light and bouncy. After a couple weeks of using my hair is still light and bouncy and I think there is even less hair fall using this shampoo compared to my previous shampoos.

    like this shampoo

Posted by Mary on 24th Jun 2016

I like this shampoo, especially for all the moisturizing ingredients. i was a little worried about the possibility of build up from hard water, however. I'm not sure if we have hard water, but we do have iron in it, for which we use a filter. So I purchase your hard water shampoo too, and now I alternate the two, one one time I shampoo and the other the next time -- I was reluctant to miss out on the greater amount of moisturizing ingredients in the peppermint and tree tea that are not in the hard water. This seems to be working well, and I like the way my hair feels when followed up with a vinegar rinse.

Make a leave in Conditioner for Hair

    Posted by T on 27th Apr 2016

Love the shampoo, but would like a leave in conditioner similar to the one Badger sells without any trace of Orange Peel as I am allergic to PPD, so therefore allergic to Orange Peel also. I do use the Vinegar Rinse but there are occasions when I don't want to smell like Vinegar and a leave in Conditioner would work. I have real thick hair and the Vinegar Rinse makes it even thicker and fluffier, which I don't need.

Excellent despite my very hard well water

Posted by Holly on 28th Mar 2016

I was hesitant to try this shampoo as we have high levels of mineral deposits in our well water. Of course I added baking soda to the shampoo from the start. I had a mild detox with some static and fly away hairs. I concocted a "leave in conditioner" made of 1 part glycerin to 3 parts water which helped a lot. Don't use too much, though, or your hair will look greasy. I also discovered that I need to use two and a half bottles of the vinegar rinse to avoid soap scum build up. After 6 weeks of use I felt the need to post a review. I LOVE this shampoo. My hair is so soft and the tea tree oil is very effective at relieving my dermatitis (aka: dandruff). As an added plus, I am not losing as much hair as I used to while showering! Many years ago I told a dermatologist that I lost a lot of hair when using a particular dandruff shampoo. She told me that was impossible, that it was "all in my head". Huh! I'm so happy I finally learned that she was wrong! This shampoo is definitely worth learning how to work with. Thanks, Stephanie!

    Better than expected

Posted by Unknown on 28th Feb 2016

I was really unsure about how well this product would work for me since I have naturally oily & curly hair. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how well it cleaned my hair, how soft it was after it dried and how much less frizz I have. Thank you so much for always exceeding my expectations on ALL of your products.

    hair feels so light

Posted by Unknown on 3rd Aug 2015

I've only used the product once. I mixed it with baking soda since I have hard water. It smells good and foams well. My hair doesn't feel weighed down. It's very light and soft. I don't however like my hair to smell like vinegar from the vinegar rinse that I used. It doesn't really go away since I can still smell vinegar the 2nd day.

    Best Shampoo!

Posted by pam on 12th May 2015

I love this shampoo. I'd been searching for a while to find an organic, safe ingredient alternative and was skeptical when I tried this shampoo. Even my hairdresser loves the results (although he thinks it's from his products). The only downside to loving this shampoo is travel - we travel light and I haven't figured out how to take vinegar on a plane trip.

Posted by crystal rodriguez on 12th Mar 2015

OMG ever since i found bubble and bee in 2011 i have veen addicted to all their products but the most life changing product for me has definitely been their 3 different shampoos (lemon, pepperment tea tree and the hardwater shampoo)! Literally my life has been changed. My nighyly n morning routines are so different thanks to these shampoos. My hair is sooooo soft, healthy and SHINY without needing to use shine serum or styling products or straighteners. i love the way my hair feels and looks. Get this it is so worth it and since i first tried it over 3 years ago i have never gone back to regular shampoos that strip my hair of natural oils and leave my hair coated with chemicals

    Best shampoo I've ever used

Posted by Claire on 16th Jan 2015

This shampoo is amazing. A few months ago I began washing my hair with rye flour instead of regular shampoos. While this cleaned my hair well, working to get all the flour rinsed out became tedious. This shampoo made my hair and scalp feel clean and moisturized when paired with the vinegar rinse. I don't know if I have hard or soft water, but I didn't have any problems with leftover soap on my hair. I also use grapeseed oil mixed with lavender or peppermint oils to combat dryness on the more damaged ends of my hair. Give this a try and stick with it through your hair's detox period, you won't be sorry.

    Stick with it!!

Posted by Unknown on 16th Jan 2015

So when I got this shampoo I was really concerned about the detox process and the soap scum effect. My hairs gets really oily on its own and I don't need any outside influences. Right off the bat I started using baking soda with the shampoo since I know I have hard water. The very first day was AWFUL as far as the greasy feeling hair went, but each day got significantly better. Four days in there was nothing but soft, healthy hair. After using the shampoo my hair did feel "sticky" as the instructions said it would, but the vinegar rinse did amazing things!! I can comb through my hair after a shower with few to no tangles. The comb just glides through. I have very fine hair and it seems to me that this shampoo makes it feel thicker. Perhaps that is because all of the yucky stuff has been removed that was weighing it down. Buy the shampoo and give it the full 2 weeks. You won't be disappointed :)

Works great! Don't give up if you have to experiment

Posted by Unknown on 13th Dec 2014

I've been using the shampoo for at least a month now, and my hair feels really good. I followed the instructions and rinsed with vinegar for a while, but found my hair hung on to the smell even after it was dry (I think it's because my hair holds on to water like crazy). I switched to using 1 tablespoon of citric acid in the bottle instead to get rid of that problem. Then I noticed my hair was feeling greasy, so I tried adding a little baking soda to the shampoo, and right away that got rid of the greasiness. I have noticed that since I started using the baking soda, the rinse doesn't make my hair slippery like the instructions say it should, but my hair looks great anyway so who cares!

    LOVE IT

Posted by mten on 13th Dec 2014

I have used hard water shampoo for sometime and this is equally as special and has a great smell. The tea tree is also a great added benefit. Love ALL the ingredients and feel confident in them because Stefanie is one of the only people i trust to tell the truth.
