This company claims that their bubble bath is made with saponified coconut oil, aka, potassium cocoate. I know from fifteen years of formulating experience, that just doesn't work. Watch the video above to see how I put it through the test and concluded that the ingredients on the bottle do not match what's inside.
Additional thoughts/questions to consider:
Even though the product's first ingredient is water, the bubble bath is thick and gel-like. However, there are no thickeners listed.
When I got home from making this video, even though I had washed my hands several times and changed my clothes, I still smelled like the "sweet pea" scent. It honestly smelled like Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea scent (aka artificial fragrance.) I haven't ever smelled sweet pea extract before, but it appears that it has a lot of linalool, like lavender. I would expect sweet pea extract to smell somewhat like lavender; this did not.
If this is a detergent-based product containing water and having a slightly acidic pH, it would need a preservative to keep it from growing bacteria. It's possible that the alcohol content of the extracts could be above 15% to keep it all preserved, but it didn't smell like alcohol at all. How is this product preserved?
I'm not disclosing the name of this company, but keep your eyes out for this ingredients. If you have this bubble bath, do your own testing and see if the product is indeed a soap or a detergent. Let me know what you find out!
