Description

Ingredients: Saponified organic oils of coconut, olive & jojoba, decyl glucoside, organic vegetable glycerin, organic peppermint essential oil, organic rosemary essential oil, organic guar gum, organic aloe vera, rosemary extract.

Our "Hard Water Shampoo" has a new name (and packaging!) This multi-purpose formula can be used as shampoo (as those of you who have used it for years know!) as well as a body wash! We've included a convenient pump for easy use in the shower, and boosted the size of the bottle to 12 oz (up from 8) so you can be more liberal in your application and get more for your money!

It's a great product for travel -- our other shampoos have great, pure ingredients, but they work best in only soft water. So when you're on the go, it's great to have a safe product that works in all kinds of water as a shampoo. Follow up with a vinegar rinse or your favorite conditioner.

    ONLY Natural Shampoo for me!

Posted by Unknown on 8th Jan 2018

I searched for the longest time for a truly natural shampoo option that would work for our hard water (and my long, fine, straight hair.) Shampoo bars, clay-based concoctions, other organic brands, etc. Nothing worked until I finally found this Hard Water Shampoo. This and the the vinegar rinse do wonders for my hair. Even the girl who cuts my hair at the salon has commented my hair seems much healthier lately. Thanks Stephanie!

Great Shampoo for both straight and curly hair

This shampoo cleans my hair and the vinegar rinse is perfect. My naturally curly hair has even more curl since the shampoo has no alcohol or synthetic ingredients.

Amazing results from this hard water shampoo! Pleasant scent!

Posted by Corinne Young on 28th Aug 2017

I also tried the regular Lemon shampoo on this site but it left my hair sooo greasy (we must have really hard water). The mixing with baking soda in the shower was too much of a hassle for me, so I gave up for awhile. But my hair was getting worse and worse (thinning and falling out and I'm only 35). I am absolutely so glad I decided to order this hard water shampoo and stick with it until my hair became accustomed to the natural ingredients, as opposed to the harsh "normal" shampoos...and I used some very gentle harsh shampoos, like Aveda Damage Control, which is very moisturizing as far as shampoo goes. However I was losing a lot of hair. I don't lose nearly as much hair now that I use this shampoo! My hair looks fuller and healthier (even my partner has noticed)! It is not GREASY by the time I need to wash it the next day. Yes, it's still dirty, especially if I've worked out. But it used to get crazy oily and looked awful. Sometimes it looked oily just from putting too much product on freshly washed hair, because my hair is very fine, thin and straight. At salons they just want you to buy more products, so they are all about pushing the regular shampoo and conditioner, leave-in conditioner, deep conditioner, etc. Well, with this natural shampoo, you don't NEED any conditioner! I use 1-2 Tbsp of lemon juice with the 16 oz rinse bottle, because I didn't like the scent of regular or apple cider vinegar with water. I also dilute the shampoo by using the 6 oz foamer bottles found on this site and distilled water. I have not gotten the correct dilution rate, so experiment, but you don't even need to use 1/4 of the bottle with the shampoo. I don't use leave-in conditioner any more, maybe once in a great while I will put a tiny bit on to control fly-aways, but that's it! And my hair is healthier and fuller than ever! What really cemented it was that I went back to a regular shampoo for one day just to use up the last bit of the bottle and the next day I had at least double the amount of hair falling out. I do use the regular shampoo found on this site (with baking soda for our hard water) about once every 10-14 days because that gets my hair squeaky clean.

    great shampoo

Love this hard water shampoo. Our water in town is known for being exceptionally hard. It leaves my hair feeling clean without the sticky residue from the water. Smells good. And would recommend it!

    Works great with hard water

Posted by Unknown on 28th Jul 2016

This was my first time to use the "Hard Water Shampoo", and it works great. Much easier to take on a trip verses the other shampoos, due to me having to carry baking soda with me. However, I do feel it does dry my hair out a little more than the other shampoos I've used on this site. It is still a great product though, and I enjoy not having to mix the baking soda with it. Next time, I may order both, and alternate with washes. Thank you again for such a great product, as always!

    Best shampoo ever

Posted by Sunshine on 28th Jul 2016

I have been using this shampoo for 2 years, I love it. Bonus is it last me for about a year because I only wash my hair with shampoo once a week sometimes I can go longer. I use a raw apple cider vinegar rinse in between the shampoo washes, which makes sure that I have all the shampoo out of my hair if any shampoo is left I am able to get the shampoo out without any build up. I have medium long hair. It takes a little longer to wash my hair because of the hard water. I wash my hair by dividing it into 2 parts, I work the shampoo into my hair, note it doesn't lather well because of the hard water. I than rinse my hair, next I use the vinegar rinse on my still parted hair I use half the bottle on one side and the other half on the side. If I think I still don't have all the shampoo out which you can tell by the feel and if you can run your finger though your hair, I will use another bottle on my hair but I put my hair all together for the second rinse. Hope this is helpful.

    good shampoo

Posted by Mary on 24th Jun 2016

I've used your other lines of shampoo and liked the results but was worried about the possibility of build-up from hard water. We have a filter on our well for iron, but I'm not sure if we have other minerals that would make it hard water. Anyway, I like the idea of hard water shampoo but was reluctant to give up the additional oils in the peppermint and tea tree shampoo, so i purchased both, and I alternate their use. This is working well for me. I do like the way my hair feels after following up with a vinegar rinse too.

    Best out there

I used to do no poo for 2 and a half years, but could get it right. THIS shampoo is awesome. I realized the reason why no poo wasn't my thang, was because my water was hard. This product lasts a long time and cleans the scalp very well.

    Love it!

I really love this shampoo. I tried the regular shampoo first, and I didn't realize I had hard water. So the regular couldn't get my hair clean. This shampoo works with my hard water just fine! I do add a teeny bit of baking soda but not every time. My hair looks great! (I only wash my long hair once a week, which is maybe why I need the baking soda.)

    Great Shampoo

This shampoo smells great, and eliminates the need to use baking soda on your hair as well. I hope this product continues as a permanent option :).

So glad I decided to try this shampoo!!

Posted by Michelle Hamer on 4th Jun 2016

I was reluctant to try any of the shampoo's; just the thought of having to survive the "detox period" deterred me from buying it sooner. I thought well, I'll have to plan around certain appointments and wear a pony tail or a hat when I can't avoid it. I even planned the excuse "I know my hair is weird, but I'm currently trying a new natural shampoo", for family or close friends brave enough to ask.. But, Alas! The first day I used it, I could see and feel a significant difference, in the health of my hair! Granted, my naturally curly hair did feel a little weird in its consistency..like kinda fuller in a waxy way..it didn't LOOK that way though.. I've used it about four or five times now.. I can feel a difference in the texture more & more each day I use it... it's cleaner feeling. Also rinsing with the vinegar rinse hasn't made me smell like a pickle all day either.

    A converted skeptic

Posted by Mary Beth Bissig on 16th May 2016

Started with this in October. Emailed Stephanie a couple times, I wasn't sure this was going to work. Converting from somewhat traditional products (a Biolage cleansing conditioner, no shampoo) took a good 4-5 weeks for my 50+ graying color treated naturally curly hair. I used to have to use a leave-in conditioner spray, then some gel to not have frizzy hair. It's naturally curly, but fairly fine in texture - always wants to frizz in any humidity. Now after several months of Hard Water Shampoo, I use a few sprays of leave-in conditioner, sometimes none at all. My hair feels great, much less frizzy. Even survived recently coloring much blonder as I contemplate transitioning to all-gray hair (back isn't gray enough yet to do it, but soon). If you are going through transition from regular shampoo, hang in there. Keep doing it. The vinegar rinse is the best. Still hoping Stephanie can create a fabulous natural and organic spray leave-in conditioner - would be perfection!

    Finally found the perfect shampoo!

Posted by Unknown on 2nd Nov 2015

I tried different no-poo methods for years without good results. It was very discouraging. Having very hard water doesn't help matters. I only wish I had found this shampoo sooner. And it lathers up so nicely that one bottle lasts a surprisingly decent amount of time. The best out there!

    Great!

Posted by Unknown on 10th Oct 2015

I tried using soap and a vinegar rinse to wash my hair, but ending up with soap scum in my hair and shower due to hard water. Stephanie suggested that I try the hard-water shampoo and I'm very pleased. I use a very small amount, undiluted, to wash my hair followed by a vinegar rinse. I also use it in a foamer bottle as body wash. It works well and smells great! The label on the bottle could be improved; it's paper and peels off in the shower.

Finally a truly all natural shampoo that works with hard water!!

Posted by Tara on 7th Aug 2015

I love this shampoo! I tried the regular formula; and even with adding baking soda, it didn't work very well with my extremely hard well water. I have been forced to go back to typical shampoos just to get my hair clean. Until now! I am going through the detox phase again right now, but I could definitely tell after rinsing that my hair didn't have as much soap scum on it. When I used the vinegar rinse, for the first time ever I was able to feel that soft slippery feeling on my hair. In a week or two I know my hair will back to how it should be. Thank you so much for making this product!! Please don't stop making this formula, it's AWESOME!

    The Best!

Posted by Mehgan on 2nd Jul 2015

I won't use any other shampoo. For years, my hair was limp, greasy, and fell in my face. Then I went to the regular B&B shampoo, but I have really hard water. Luckily I found this!! It smells like mint peppermint patties, makes my hair shiny, smooth, clean, no soap scum, and I am just so happy with it. I cannot say thank you enough for making this product!!

Saved me from retuning to chemical shampoos

Posted by Cathi C. on 28th Apr 2015

I had been struggling with an extra long detox period when ditching mainstream shampoo. I didn't think my water was hard (Seattle area), but I'd tried everything else and was determined to stay the course. I mix a bit of this in with my other natural shampoo and it works wonders. I find the vinegar rinse unnecessary when I mix, which is awesome as I really don't using vinegar. Smells great, cleans great. Now, how about a conditioner.
