Description
NEW: Bubble & Bee CHERRY Alkalizing Toothpaste!
Less intense formula than our other toothpastes. Safe for all ages, mild cherry flavor.
Organic vegetable glycerin
Proudly chosen for its bacteriostatic and anti-cariogenic properties. Known to stop the growth of the bacteria that cause cavities. (More info here) It also makes the toothpaste a paste; without glycerin, the product would just be a hard chunk of soap. Our glycerin is palm-free, gluten-free, produced without hexane, non-GMO, organic, and USP grade.
Saponified organic coconut oil
AKA coconut oil soap, this is the powerhouse of the toothpaste. This is what gives the toothpaste a mild lather, lifts debris from teeth, and gives the toothpaste its alkalinity. In an alkaline state, the mouth has a chance to naturally remineralize. If your mouth is below 5.5 pH (acidic) the calcium and phosphorous in your enamel start to dissolve in your saliva, leading to acid wear and promoting bacterial growth.(Source) But when your mouth’s in an alkaline state, the calcium and phosphorus ions in your saliva are able to bind to the hydroxyapatite in your teeth. You *can* remineralize without the help of nanoparticles and fluoride. Alkalinity is the key.
Calcium carbonate
It’s so important to use a toothpaste with a LOW abrasive factor. Many toothpastes are so abrasive that they wear the enamel right off your teeth. It might feel good to really scrub and feel like you’re leaving the dentist’s office every time you brush your teeth, but abrasive toothpastes wear enamel and cause sensitivity and damage. We use a *small* amount of naturally-sourced calcium carbonate to help clean and polish teeth but not strip enamel.
Calcium carbonate also assists in alkalizing the mouth, and can increase the levels of calcium in the saliva. (Source)
Organic cherry flavor extract
USDA certified organic flavor extract made with NO synthetic chemicals, GMOs, sewage sludge, glycols, or anything fishy! Fully plant-based, third-party organic inspected, free from common food allergens, steeped in a base of organic sunflower oil. (No high heat processing used.) (More info here.)
Organic stevia
With this toothpaste being soap-based, we needed something to keep it from *tasting* like soap. After reviewing and testing all non-cariogenic natural sweeteners (like xylitol and erythritol) we felt confident in our choice for organic stevia. No digestive side effects (like some sugar alcohols) and no worries about furry friends getting sick. But not just that, stevia has been shown to have anti-plaque properties. (Source) We also love all the studies that have found it to have antioxidant properties, so you can feel safe you’re using only clean and healthy ingredients. (Source)(Source) Whole-leaf extract, no chemical solvents or additives.
And that’s it! That’s all the ingredients. No “featured ingredients” in a big font, then a hidden menu with the full ingredients in fine print that reads like a chemical catalog. This is it!
Full Ingredients List: organic vegetable glycerin, organic cherry flavor extract (in organic sunflower oil), calcium carbonate, saponified organic coconut oil, organic stevia.
Is it Good for Sensitive Teeth?
YES!
Tooth sensitivity can have its roots, no pun intended, in several things. Using a toothpaste with too much abrasiveness, acid wear, over-brushing, and using a toothbrush with a higher abrasiveness factor. (Those toothbrushes with the rubbery bristles are a big cause of tooth sensitivity, from personal experience. I got rid of those brushes and got rid of most of my sensitivity.)
Keeping your mouth in an alkaline state opens the door to remineralization. Calcium and phosphorous in your saliva have the chance to bind to and thicken and heal your enamel when the mouth is in an alkaline state. When the pH drops below 5.5, the pathways change and calcium starts to dissolve in your saliva from your teeth. Keeping your mouth alkaline is essential to reducing sensitivity and building your enamel. (Source)(Source)
Packaging
Comes in low-waste packaging! 2 oz glass jar with recyclable steel metal lid. Sealed with a biodegradable sticker. Add on an optional bamboo scoop for handy use. Bamboo scoop found here. (Sold separately)
Shelf Life
We recommend using your toothpaste within a year after purchase.
Directions
If you're sharing a jar with other family members, you can use a scoop to apply your toothpaste to your toothbrush. If it's your own jar, you can just dip your toothbrush right in. Apply a half a pea-sized amount to a wet toothbrush. You don't need a huge ribbon, a little goes a long way. Brush teeth thoroughly then spit and rinse. Our toothpaste is low-foaming so you won’t get a mouthful of bubbles, but you will get some. Scoop sold separately.
Is it Safe for Kids and Toddlers?
Yep! This can be used on young children and toddlers without worry, even if they swallow some. (Barring any personal allergies of course.) Flavor extract is certified organic and intended for food use. It also has a milder formula so it's not as intense as our other toothpastes. Safe for kids but adults can use it too!
Our toothpaste is:
- Corn-free
- Gluten-free
- Dairy-free
- Egg/shellfish-free
- Vegan
- Palm-free
- Soy-free
Our formula is also nanoparticle-free, fluoride-free, SLS-free, sorbitol-free, GMO-free, titanium dioxide-free.
If you have any other allergy or sensitivity concerns, please contact us and we'll be happy to help!
What About My Gums?
Gingivitis is caused by bacterial growth in the pocket between the gums and tooth. Regular brushing and flossing will help remove debris that bacteria feed on and keep gums healthy. Keeping the mouth in an alkaline state also staves off bacterial growth.
Will this make my mouth peel?
When you switch toothpastes, it's very common for your mucous membranes to shed. You may experience a cycle of shedding as your mouth adjusts to these new ingredients, as you would with any toothpaste. If you experience it, it is a temporary effect.
Shipping/Separation Note
We recommend our summer shipping with this item, as it can melt in transit. Once melted, it can't be re-solidified.
Due to the nature of this natural product, texture can vary from batch to batch and from jar to jar. Texture can vary from a thick liquid to a harder balm-like thickness. Most jars will be a soft cream-like consistency. All textures are safe to use and will do the same job of cleaning teeth. We check all jars before we label them to make sure that it's thick enough to hold its shape when held sideways. If your toothpaste is liquid, it was exposed to heat somewhere along the way in transit.
Over time, the product may naturally separate. It can be stirred or used as-is.
We do not accept returns of opened items.

Candy!
I was a little leary to try the cherry flavor but spearmint was out of stock so I thought I would give it a try. It is fun! It tastes like candy! I’m enjoying it.

Kid's toothpaste
While I think this is a great toothpaste swap for kids my 2 year old deemed it "too spicy" and refuses to use it. May be more suitable for older children

Fantastic Addition
I was hoping this would be a winner for my kiddos who don’t care for the mint or lemon - it didn’t disappoint! The flavor is just right and not “spicy”, and it has such a gently cleaning power - the kids’ teeth are shining after they brush!

All the flavors are great, but this one is specifically awesome, and I am not even a cherry person! Also just learned that the coconut oil is antifungal ?

My new favorite toothpaste!
I have been testing out new toothpastes for about 6 years now. For the past 1.5 years, trying to find the best non-toxic. I am someone who never wants mint toothpastes. I'm just bored of mint all my life. But I had started using Bubble & Bee brand recently and was happy with the spearmint. I figured I'd give up on wanting things like cherry, raspberry, etc. Imagine my excitement when Stephanie announced this cherry version! And it is amazing! Like 10/10. It tastes like Twizzlerd Nibs (cherry licorice bites) and is so so good. Thankfully I bought 2 pots because I see it all got snatched up quick If you like cherry, get this even If you have to wait. It's worth it!
