Commercial products contain plastics and proteins that coat the hair. They claim that they “repair split ends.” The truth is that there is no real way to repair split ends. Hair is not made of live cells and cannot repair itself. Commercial products coat the hair so it appears to be healthy—when, in fact, your hair may be damaged. Many experts believe that harsh synthetic detergents like sodium lauryl sulfate damage hair by stripping it of all its natural oils and compromising the structure of the cuticle. We believe that synthetics are harsher too. You can tell by this little test---if you use our shampoo and follow it up with a vinegar rinse, you can comb through it when wet. However, if you use a synthetic shampoo and follow it up with a vinegar rinse, you'll just end up breaking your hair.
