Description

A "sensitive skin" deodorant that actually works on odor -- and your skin!

With 10 years of deodorant formulating expertise under our belt, we know that when it comes to underarm rashes, in most cases it's not about the absence or presence of any one particular ingredient -- it's about how the overall formula acts on your skin. We've heard so many stories about how people react even to other brands' "sensitive skin" formulas. That's because other companies will just take out the baking soda and call it a "sensitive" version. We know it's more complicated than that.

Most underarm rashes are caused by moisture and friction. Whether it's friction from the actual deodorant you're using (hello scratchy sticks) or skin-to-skin friction (itchy!), skin becomes irritated, red/dark and raw. That irritation can then progress to topical infections (bacterial or fungal) that can be even harder to control. Keeping underarm skin dry and friction free is the key to keeping it happy!

So, in our sensitive skin deodorants, we added a nice dose of skin-soothing zinc oxide and a good amount of wetness-absorbing organic arrowroot powder. Zinc oxide does a great job of creating a protective barrier on skin and arrowroot powder cuts down on friction and moisture!

If you're a heavier sweater or live in a humid climate, we recommend reapplying the cream, a powder, or corresponding Pit Putty Stick on top of it throughout the day to keep that wetness down.

The result? A "sensitive skin" deodorant that has been highly requested!

Vegan, no animal testing, gluten-free.

    instructions are too much

Posted by noname on 26th Sep 2021

I got this hoping for a change from another "natural" deo. but upon reviewing the instructions about heating and putting in freezer till the right consistency to apply, turns me completely off to this product. This is now how I want to dink around in the mornings when getting ready and out of the shower before dressing. Who wants two walk around in a towel for 10-15 mins or more wasting precious morning time? Not me. Smells nice though. NOTE FROM STEPHANIE: The heating and cooling instructions are only for fixing the product if it's melted in transit, and only needs to be done once, not as part of daily application. To apply, simply scoop out a half a pea-sized amount and rub in with fingertips. :)

This is my favorite product! I have been using it for a few years now and I love it! Works great, smells great and a little goes a long way.

    My favorite!

Posted by Laura on 3rd May 2023

I've been using natural deodorants for about a decade and have tried almost every product out there. This one is by far my favorite! I've never had a reaction or developed any irritation from it, it keeps me stink free without reapplication most days, is all natural, and smells great! I've told everyone who asks about it. The jar may not seem appealing but its easy to apply (and you can get a little applicator on Amazon if you don't like using your fingers). But best of all IT WORKS! There's another brand (E&E) that works as well but irritates my pits after a few days. I never have that problem with pit buddy! I love that the ingredients aren't harmful so I don't have to worry that I'm poisoning my body. I'm a customer for life! (And if you haven't tried the lip balm don't wait!!)

Works great. Very rare that I ever need to reapply, even after working hard. No irritation and smells great.

    Great

Posted by Jaysa on 6th May 2021

I have crazy sensitive skin, allergies to strong scents, and care about chemicals. For this reason, back in 2008 I purchased Pit Putty (a similar product on this website) for around 10 years. It worked well and I had no issues. Then I used the spray for another few years. I prefered the spray to the puddy as it was easier to put on and never left residue. I was not a fan of the spray switching to witch hazel and switched back to the putty. I tried the Pit Buddy this time and it has been great. I have now reordered the same product. I recommend Pit Buddy (the sensitive one) and also the Pit Putty.

    Finally, no rash!!

Posted by Vivian Kaplan on 3rd Apr 2021

I was having an awful time with deodorants. Never had a problem before, but about 2 years ago I got a rash from all of the ones I tried. I bought every "for sensitive skin" there was and no luck until I tried this one and it was a glaring success. Thrilled I found it.

    Pit Buddy Orange Vanilla deodorant

Posted by Linda Frangello Franco on 14th Dec 2020

I usually use the regular formula, but thought to try this one when I saw the ingredients. I LOVE IT! It smells heavenly and it very soft going on, no irritation and I smell good all day, even when I work out. I have tried several of the "flavors" and don't like anything with Lavender in it so am giving those away. The Orange ones are my favorite, they smell fresh and natural, not fake or artificial, and best of all, they work! I recommend them highly! No bad ingredients, either!

Just a small amount goes a long way to all day protection from odor. Very pleasing scent. My other favorite is the Almond/coconut Pit Buddy.

    Pit Buddy Cream - Sensitive-Skin

Posted by Gerry C. on 4th Jul 2020

Of all of the deodorants we have tried with BnB these sensitive-skin creams are the best! They work for 24-36 hours and don't irritate my skin as the baking soda formulas have the tendency to do. With the zinc oxide base, I rub any excess into my face right after a shave, and/or onto my arms to start the day smelling great!

    The best!

Posted by Ana on 2nd May 2020

Love this product! This is my 2nd jar and scent (1st was almond coconut). Pleasant scent, not overpowering. Holds up to hot days, exercise, and stress. Occasionally have to reapply during the day but overall lasts for the time they say. Doesn't build up/stain clothes. My sister and I have both tried many other brands of natural deoderant and this one can't be beat! I always recommend this product to my friends. Your search for a natural deoderant that works ends here!

As good as there is out there

Posted by Rob on 12th Apr 2020

This flavor is the best. Worked out yesterday and did NOT need to reapply to get thru the day. Never causes skin irritation - which is reason #1 to use it. I’ve yet to find a better natural deodorant that doesn’t cause skin irritation or has baking soda. Definitely will continue to buy

Pit Buddy Sensitive Skin Deodorant Cream Orange Vanilla

Posted by Jamie on 3rd Dec 2019

Allergies to deodorants have been a challenge thru my life. For years I was able to use an OTC "sensitive skin" brand, but then even it left my underarms with an itchy rash. Pit Buddy works very well and even has a pretty and gentle scent. What a find!

Love this stuff. Usually get the almond for sensitive skin but because of the sale you were out so I tried the orange vanilla. The smell is very mild and nice.

This is my favorite non-baking soda deodorant. I’ve tried several brands over the years but always come back to Pit Putty.

    Good Deodorant

I had a horrible underarm rash that caused me to switch deodorants. I discovered this product and made the switch and the rash went away. I'm sticking with this product.

    Great product!

Posted by Laura on 24th Jun 2019

Just like many others I have tried every natural deodorant there is out there! Most of them either did not work at all, and left me stinking halfway through the day, or worked for a short period and then gave me a rash and angry pits. This product works great! Keeps me odor free and is my favorite of the BB deoderant products! I did foolishly order several at the same time and thus could not take advantage of the deodorant guarentee as it took a while to try them all. That is user error on my part and doesn't take away from the effectiveness of the product! I wish it came in a stick rather than the pot, but I was able to buy a wooden applicator from another company that keeps me from using my fingers and transferring germs to the jar. All in all very happy with the product!

    Rash-Free 12 Hour Odor Protection

Posted by Florence on 9th Mar 2019

Grab some popcorn because this is going to be a long review, short life’s story included. Sincerely, I want to say thank you to Stephanie because since I began using pit putty for sensitive skin, I have been free of the rashes, discoloration and peeling I had been experiencing since I began my natural deodorant journey three or so years ago at the age of nineteen. To list he deodorants I’ve tried chronologically as best as I can, I’ve used rock deodorants, Tom’s of Maine deodorant sticks, Crystal brand deodorants in roll-on and spray-on varieties, Kiss My Face sport deodorant, Schmidt’s deodorant sticks (in all sorts of varieties), Kopari roll-on coconut deodorant, Alaffia deodorant stick...I may be missing others, but I just wanted to illustrate the point that I’ve tried many natural deodorants. When I first began using natural deodorants, I was floored by the odor. I had read prior to making the change that I would experience detoxification which would mean odor...but this lasted far longer than the period of detoxification I had read about which was no more than a few weeks, maybe a month at most. I told myself that’s just what using natural deodorant was like. Until I couldn’t handle the irritation anymore and began trying everything I could find when I could afford it. Long story short, If they weren’t painfully irritating (redness, itching, some even gave me blisters) they had nearly no odor protection. Some gave me terrible skin discoloration and clogged the pores of my underarm skin. Some wouldn’t give me extreme rashes right away, but my skin would start to peel after 2-3 uses which would then lead to pain and discoloration. I thought it could be my diet (I like stinky foods like garlic, onions, seaweed, etc.; I’m also on a vegan ketogenic diet for weight loss, and weight loss can lead to smell, as well) or my hormones that just made me so smelly. I cried about that because I had not the most remote idea of where to begin rectifying those problems, and the idea of taking on all the possible variables made me wonder if I had to choose between being odor free or not using toxic, carcinogenic products that were tested on animals. I almost gave up hope on natural deodorants because I couldn’t afford to keep trying newer, often more expensive deodorants. I also couldn’t handle the constant blow to my self-esteem that feeling constantly stinky despite trying new things again and again and again dealt to me. I couldn’t believe that wanting to avoid carcinogenic ingredients and wanting a cruelty-free and vegan deodorant that didn’t acutely irritate my underarms seemed practically impossible. Enter pit putty for sensitive skin. No, pit putty didn’t solve my life. And it didn’t work as well as it does now for me until I stopped wearing synthetic fibers (polyester, etc.) and started spraying my laundry with Nature’s Miracle. But I can wear this to work without fearing B.O. creep in (or out, rather) toward the end of my shift where I do a lot of running around and a decent amount of lifting (I work at a library). I can also wear this to my yoga workout without feeling smelly at the end. On especially active days, I need to re-apply at around eight hours after using a PH-balanced or otherwise gentle cleanser for my underarms (I use Honey Pot PH balanced feminine wash or Dr. Bronner’s castille soap). Sure, I do take a couple of extra precautions here and there, but they are just measures I take to give myself the best chance of odor protection. Not to mention after 2-3 weeks of use I’m only an eighth of the way through my jar of Orange Vanilla Sensitive Deodorant, so I can safely say this jar will last me 2 months even with my frequent application. TL;DR I’m just honestly grateful to have soft, normal underarms again without the price of carcinogens or otherwise toxic substances, animal-based ingredients or animal testing. I am obviously sold.
