Earthpaste Natural Toothpaste

Lemon Twist Ingredients: Purified Water, Food Grade Redmond Clay, Non-GMO Xylitol, Redmond Real Salt, Lemon Essential Oil, Lemon Verbana Essential Oil, Tangerine Essential Oil, Lime Essential Oil

Peppermint Ingredients: Purified water, Food Grade Redmond Clay, Non-GMO Xylitol, Wildcrafted Peppermint Essential Oil, Menthol, Redmond Real Salt, Tea Tree Oil.

Cinnamon Ingredients: Purified water, Food Grade Redmond Clay, Non-GMO Xylitol, Wildcrafted Cinnamon Essential Oil, Redmond Real Salt, Tea Tree Oil.

Wintergreen: Not available.  Wintergreen essential oil is on our list of essential oils to avoid, due to the toxicity of methyl salicylate.

Spearmint: Purified Water, Food Grade Redmond Clay®, Redmond Real Salt®, Spearmint Essential Oil, Menthol & Tea Tree Essential Oil. UNSWEETENED

We still do plan on coming out with a toothpaste of our own, but in the meantime we found a great product that's made locally to us!  Made by Redmond Trading, the same people that offer Real Salt.

  • No SLS.
  • No glycerin. (Glycerin is a safe ingredient, but some sources claim that glycerin coats the tooth and contributes to decay.)
  • No fluoride.
  • Tastes and works great, too!

Expectations: Earthpaste Natural Toothpaste is a clay-based toothpaste that does a great job of cleaning even though it doesn't lather.  The paste is a natural tan color.

NOTE: For a while we stopped carrying Earthpaste Natural Toothpaste due to our concerns about its Prop 65 lead warning. However, now that Redmond has contextualized the amount of lead present in the product, as well as some of the chemistry behind lead in clay, we are confident in carrying this product again. Lemon Twist

Posted by Meg on 3rd Apr 2021

I've been using Earth Paste's Lemon Twist now for about a year. My first reaction to trying it was: where have you been all my life? The flavor is just like a lemon curd, sharp and lemony and refreshing. Not overpowering at all, just pleasant. The flavor also doesn't linger after rinsing. As for effectiveness... this stuff cleans my teeth better than any "regular" toothpaste I've tried. My teeth always feel smooth now, like I'm fresh from the dentist! It's also just as effective at soothing sensitive gum spots as desensitizing toothpaste. I actually look forward to brushing my teeth and have started brushing my teeth throughout the day (like we're supposed to, lol). Because there is no foaming agent, you won't feel like you are spreading the toothpaste to every tooth, but trust me, you are. The only qualm I have is that this doesn't seem to clean between the teeth as well as "regular" toothpaste, so I do more flossing. But my dentist gave me the thumbs up as far as tartar control. He didn't notice a difference in my teeth after I made the switch.

    earthpaste cinnamon

Posted by Bethany on 20th Sep 2020

This just wasn't for me. I gave it a try for a week, and my teeth never felt clean. I enjoyed the cinnamon flavor initially, but within 30 seconds of brushing, i felt like all the toothpaste was gone. By the end of two minutes my teeth never felt smooth, and my mouth just felt dirty, so I ended up brushing again with regular toothpaste. Also, I don't know if this is typical, but there's a LOT of air in the tube, and every time I'd try to squeeze some toothpaste on my brush, a chunk of it (looks like clay) would shoot across my sink.

While it’s not a great product, it seems good so far and contains simple ingredients. And honestly, my options are so limited for a nontoxic toothpaste that doesn’t contain xylitol, stevia, or any other gross “sweeteners.” (Note: I bought the 1 unsweetened flavor available.) Some sweeteners used in natural toothpastes are promoted as safe, but all of them make me physically ill, especially xylitol. So, the spearmint version of Earthpaste seemed the least risky to try. The flavor is terrible—but it doesn’t make me physically sick. In fact, the flavor completely rinses out. No terrible or extreme sweet flavors during use nor aftertaste left behind, unlike all previous toothpastes I’ve tried. There is weird grittiness that gets left behind though. So I brush my teeth quickly once more at the end to remove residual grit & rinse yet again. Inconvenient but takes care of the problem. In summary: unpleasant product flavor and texture, but worth enduring to get clean-feeling teeth with zero gross product aftertaste. Thank you to Bubble&Bee for selling this product.

    Earthpaste is great

Posted by Not 4 year old approved on 10th Aug 2019

I love my Earthpaste, it has things I can identify in it, my breath is fresh and my teeth feel clean. Everything I want. I love the information listed on it, which for my four year old is accurate, it doesn't look or initially taste great which I love because he won't eat it.

Its ok. I like Uncle Harry's toothpaste better. Earthpaste seems watered down in comparison. Its ok, but not my favorite.

I have MS and as one of the side effects, I have a very sensitive gag reflex. This toothpaste, because it does not foam. does not contain fluoride (which exacerbates my MS) and is not so strong in flavor, lets me keep my teeth very clean feeling all day and lets me brush my tongue without being ill. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great tasting Peppermint

Posted by Sarah on 10th Dec 2018

When I first ordered this product I was leery of what it might taste like, but the peppermint covers up any clay taste and I feel like I get a great clean from it. I've used this product now for well over 2 years and do not regret it one bit.

    This is the best!

Posted by Unknown on 17th Jul 2018

I was using a different brand of natural toothpaste, so I expected the same type product but this one blew me away! The scent was wonderful (I ordered lemon) and the texture felt good in my mouth. Everything about this product is great. I highly recommend it.

Like how it has no fluoride or any other toxins, only organic ingredients. Like the taste too. Nothing to complain about.

    clean ingredients

Posted by Lisa on 19th Sep 2016

If you're looking for a foamy, minty cleanser that keeps a fresh scent in your mouth for an hour don't consider this product. I bought it for the clean ingredients but that's all I get. Right after brushing I feel like I need to brush again (yes, I brush my tongue). Sometimes if I'm going somewhere right after brushing I put a mint in my mouth (defeats the purpose).

Cinnamon toothpaste is wonderfully toxin free. It has the power to clean but no harsh after effects.

    Great for kids

My child has always used Earthpaste and loves the lemon flavor because it "doesn't burn". The dentist has no complaints on the health of her teeth.

    Like making my own

Posted by Patricia on 25th Nov 2015

I make my own toothpaste, but when I am very busy I like to use this earth paste. It cleans great, love the taste, just wish it was not so expensive. So I only buy it when on sale.

    Not good for sensitive teeth

Posted by Unknown on 1st Nov 2015

I'm still on my quest for an all natural toothpaste that doesn't aggravate my sensitive teeth. I thought I was doing okay with this one, but by day 3 the old familiar sting was back just from air touching my teeth. Oh well...back to the drawing board. Reply: Email me--I might have some suggestions for you, having dealt with tooth sensitivity myself.

    Chemical free toothpaste

Posted by Courtney on 28th Oct 2015

Love this toothpaste but the warning about the lead is throwing me off... Is this something to be concerned about? Especially when it comes to my kids? REPLY: Thanks for your question! Yes, the Earthpaste does carry the Prop 65 warning for lead and we even stopped carrying the product due to our own concerns for several months. However, back in October of last year we decided to carry the product again, as the manufacturer was able to contextualize the amount of lead and made us feel safe in offering it again. I am personally concerned with heavy metals due to my own hormonal imbalances (and many metals interfere with hormone balance and function) and I use this product on a daily basis. When we started carrying this product again we also did our own research, not just what the manufacturer gave us. You can read more about why we felt the product was safe here:

I use the Lemon Twist flavor of Earthpaste. It works great and I like the flavor. Due to an odd condition called "geographic tongue" I need to avoid mint flavorings which are a trigger; it wasn't easy to find a natural toothpaste that meets my needs and tastes good!
