Description: Our shampoo is different because it contains no synthetic detergents; just gentle natural soap. Our great-grandmothers used simple soaps like these before the advent of synthetic shampoos. They had hair that was clean, shiny and healthy--without all the chemicals. Your order comes with one 8 oz bottle of shampoo, one 16 oz rinsing bottle for your vinegar rinse (unless otherwise indicated), and full instructions and information.

Where's the conditioner? Our products are a little bit different to use; it may take some getting used to. Instead of using a detergent shampoo (that strips your hair) and conditioner (that covers up the damage the shampoo did) we use a natural soap to clean and vinegar to balance hair's pH. The cleansing is so gentle you don't need conditioner, and the vinegar makes your hair exceptionally strong. Conventional shampoos and conditioners contain synthetic proteins and plasticizers that coat the hair. They have to do this to cover up the damage that the harsh detergents in the shampoo do to your hair. Our shampoo doesn't strip the hair of its oils, only removes the excess. You'll actually go through a hair "detox" period, where the synthetic proteins will be removed and you'll be able to feel your hair for the first time without these synthetic coatings. It will become naturally soft and smooth, and, as new hair grows in, it won't suffer the damage of the conventional shampoos. Over time, your hair's appearance will grow shinier and be stronger. The organic Lemon Shampoo contains sweet almond oil and jojoba oils for added conditioning. Jojoba oil is very similar in structure to our hairs' own natural oils, so it's a great conditioning agent. Sweet almond oil has long been used on hair and skin, and helps to strengthen skin and clarify scalp. Lemon essential oil has long been known to be a hair clarifier, stregthener, and dandruff remover. We recommend this shampoo for people with oilier hair, although it can be suitable for everyone. What if I have hair that's oily on the top and dry on the bottom? To tell if you have oily hair, judge your scalp. If your hair gets greasy at the roots after just one day, we recommend the Lemon Shampoo for you. If not, we recommend the Peppermint and Tea Tree Shampoo.

Directions: Place a quarter-sized dollop of shampoo into your palm and lather into hair. If you have thick or long hair, you may want to make a horizontal part on the back of your head and apply an extra dollop of shampoo to ensure you clean your entire scalp. Lather up and rinse as usual.

Vinegar rinse instructions: Fill the provided rinse bottle to the line with vinegar (white or apple cider vinegar work great), and fill to the top with water. Pour entire contents of the bottle onto your hair. Repeat the rinse until you can run your fingers through all your hair. (A detailed information sheet will be included with your order.)

Note: This shampoo is not for everyone. It is soap-based, not detergent based, so it has the potential to form soap scum. There are many factors that come in to play with soap scum formation, including water hardness, type of hardness, and texture of hair. If your hair comes out feeling greasy with this shampoo after the detox period, it's because you're experiencing soap scum. You can work around it by mixing in baking soda with the shampoo. As much as we want to sell you shampoo, we think you should know this ahead of time, as this product is non-returnable once opened. If it doesn't work out for you as a shampoo, however, it can be used as a body or hand soap.

Shelf Life: 18 months from date of purchase

    :(

I really wanted to switch to a mostly organic shampoo, and this sounded awesome, helps hair become soft and smooth. Unfortunately, my hair didn't like this shampoo. It smelled really nice, but my hair became extremely matted and dry, even with using the vinegar rinse every time I shampooed.

    Lemon Bliss

Love the lemon scent! Takes some getting used to following the instructions for rinsing with dilute vinegar, but it really does work. I have naturally curly hair, so this stuff is great for not stripping the hair, which would typically need loads of conditioner and curling product. Just little bit of Argon oil and my hair stays curled without the frizz.

I was hoping this would help

I was hoping this would help with my wild hair but it looks the same as commercial shampoo. It smells good & it does clean well. I was just hoping my hair would get healthier but so far I've noticed no change in it.

    Awesome shampoo!

Posted by Unknown on 15th Jul 2017

I have tried many, many natural shampoos through the years, including shampoo bars. This is the best shampoo I've tired! For a natural shampoo, it suds up nice. It leaves NO residue. I follow up with the apple cider vinegar rinse, & my hair is totally tangle-free :)

The answer to my hair problems

Posted by Kristin O'Connor on 4th Mar 2017

After using another brand of natural hair care and not being satisfied, I stumbled upon Bubble and Bee while trying to find a new deodorant. I ordered the shampoo and was skeptical at first, but as soon as I did the vinegar rinse my hair turned to silk. I was amazed! My hair has never been this soft or smooth before, and I am beyond words. I could run my fingers through it in the shower with no problem, and I saw all the results that the instructions promised. Because my hair had already detoxed from commercial hair products with my previous natural shampoo, I saw these amazing results in one day. For those who are making the switch now, stay strong! I went through a month of greasy hair to get to where I am now, but it is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend this brand and I will be continuing to use these products!

    Has stopped my dandruff

Posted by Steve on 4th Apr 2015

I am really loving this shampoo. My dandruff has cleared up after only a couple weeks of using. I wear a dark blue polyester uniform at my EMS job. In the past, I constantly had dander flakes if I didn't use Selsum Blue daily. I have not seen a flake so far since using this. I also use a quarter of the amount of shampoo I used in the past. So far as well, no buildup on my hair. Great stuff!

    I love this shampoo

Posted by Joshua on 25th Feb 2015

I tend to have to use a bit of baking soda with the shampoo as the sebum tends to build up fairly quickly in my hair. Given that my hair is at my lower back/waist when wet, it can be a real pain using this shampoo with hard water especially when you add the sebum into the mix. I've found the best way around this issue is to: Use the shampoo/water mix from one of the foaming bottles/pumps at my roots. Squirt some into my hands and mix it with baking soda and apply that to my roots. Then work it into my scalp and down my hair. I then use distilled water to rinse everything out of my hair and, follow that up with with a lemon juice/ACV (apple cider vinegar)/water rinse from the rinse bottle. I've always had "soft/fine" hair that was straight but, this shampoo has resulted in my hair becoming a little curly. I am perfectly fine with that but, it's not something I was expecting to happen after the "detox" period as it's something I have never had.
